Returns to Rennes
Fofana will return to parent club Rennes following the conclusion of his loan spell at Porto, with the Ivorian international midfielder also having been eliminated from the World Cup with Ivory Coast.
Analysis: Fofana made 30 appearances across all competitions, contributing four goals and one assist across 1,330 minutes including 12 Liga Portugal outings, 12 Ligue 1 appearances, four Europa League matches and two Taca de Portugal games. Analysis: Fofana led the team in shots and produced an active display in midfield, holding the tempo when needed but often breaking the lines when the situation called for it. Fofana seems to be the player who provides balance in midfield, but he might be forced to play with a more defensive stance against a Germany lineup that features dangerous playmakers such as Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala, among others.
