Luca Jaquez

Jaquez (muscle) has resumed full team training after a lengthy injury absence and is likely to be included in the squad for Saturday's Bundesliga clash against Paderborn, according to coach Sebastian Hoeness. "Luca has been training with the team for several days, which is great news because he's been out for a long time. He'll very likely be in the squad."

Analysis: Jaquez appears to have finally overcome the muscular problems that kept him sidelined for roughly three months, having completed an extended rehabilitation process before returning to full team training. The center-back has now participated in several sessions with his teammates, putting him on track to make his first matchday squad appearance since the injury. However, his lengthy absence could limit his involvement initially, with Stuttgart likely to ease him back into competitive action before considering him for a starting role.

Set to miss another match

Jaquez (undisclosed) is set to miss out on Tuesday's match against Colombia after failing to rejoin training, according to Lucas Werder of Blick.

Analysis: Jaquez continues to be on the sidelines or only allowed to work individually at training, leading to his expected absence on Tuesday. After going without the defender last match, the Swiss team will not be left in a crunch, although it is a rough loss of depth. Little more is yet to be known about his injury, leaving his availability for the quarterfinals in the air if Switzerland advances.
