Productive left-back
Gunther ended the season as one of Elversberg's most productive defenders, contributing seven assists across 27 second division appearances to rank among the most dangerous full-backs in the league.
Analysis: Gunther combined defensive reliability with an eye-catching attacking output throughout the promotion campaign, quickly establishing himself as an important figure after joining from Augsburg in the summer. Gunther heads into the Bundesliga having already attracted interest from bigger clubs, and his combination of defensive solidity and creative quality from left-back gives Elversberg a dynamic option as they prepare for the step up to the top flight.
Signs contract extension until 2030
Gunther has signed a contract extension with Elversberg until summer 2030, the club announced.
Analysis: Gunther joined from Augsburg last summer after previous loan spells at Regensburg, Wehen Wiesbaden and Karlsruher SC, quickly establishing himself as a key figure for the club. Gunther made 27 second division appearances this season, contributing eight assists to rank among the most productive full-backs in the league, with sporting director Christian Weber describing the extension as crucial given the growing interest from bigger clubs. Gunther himself expressed his conviction in continuing his development at Elversberg, citing the team, environment and club as key factors in his decision.
