Ruled out of Supercup clash
Gnabry (thigh) will miss Saturday's Supercup against Borussia Dortmund due to his adductor tear, according to coach Vincent Kompany. "Lenny and Serge are not involved."
Analysis: Gnabry had shown noticeable physical improvement during a team training session earlier in the week, taking part in several exercises before sitting out the second half as Bayern continued his gradual buildup, but this update confirms he isn't quite ready for a competitive return following an injury that dates back to mid April. Lennart Karl is similarly unavailable due to a thigh muscle tear, leaving Bayern without both attacking options for the season curtain raiser against Dortmund.
Working on comeback
Gnabry is intensively working on his comeback following the torn adductor in his right thigh that made him miss the World Cup, the club announced.
Analysis: Gnabry had already confirmed he would miss the World Cup due to the injury, with the recovery timeline set at three to four months when initially sustained in early April. The winger ended his Bundesliga season with eight goals and six assists across 21 appearances for Bayern Munich, adding two goals and five assists in the Champions League, and will continue his rehabilitation work with the aim of returning for preseason ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
