Assist and five shots in start
Trezeguet assisted once to go with five shots (two on goal) and one chance created in Friday's 1-1 draw versus Iran.
Analysis: After the impact he made coming off the bench in the last game, Trezeguet was rewarded with a place in the starting XI and operated on the left flank. He was Egypt's most threatening player throughout, constantly getting into dangerous positions and finishing with five shots. He was also credited with an assist for the goal after the ball touched him as the Iran goalkeeper attempted to clear the ball.
Returns with substitution goal
Trezeguet scored one goal across 14 minutes during Egypt's 3-1 win Sunday against New Zealand.
Analysis: For the World Cup, its 2026 edition is Trezeguet's second. During 2018, he logged three starts. Fast-forward to 2026, Trezeguet is both not a prospect and the Egyptians' second-oldest forward, behind captain Mohamed Salah. With fellow striker Omar Marmoush, Emam Ashour and Mostafa Ziko also valued parts of Egypt's updated attack, they indicate why Trezeguet did not play June 15 against Belgium. Instead, his return appearance was this Sunday, and he replaced Marmoush during the game's 76th minute. In multiple ways, the substitution benefited Trezeguet six minutes later, when a left-side corner arose without Marmoush. Instead, Salah attempted Egypt's outswinging corner, and Trezeguet headed in the ensuing cross for his first goal of an international tournament. Even though the Egyptians' four-man attack is set, they still need a quality backup, and it looks like he can be just that.
