Weak 45-minute display Monday

Dest committed one foul in Monday's 4-1 defeat against Belgium.

Analysis: Dest failed to make an impact before being replaced by Giovanni Reyna when the team was in desperate need of attacking talent against a solid opposition. The 25-year-old was deployed as a right winger, but that advanced role didn't lead to significant offensive stats, as he recorded no goal contributions over five games played (four starts) during the 2026 World Cup.

One chance created

Dest recorded one tackle (one won) and one interception in Wednesday's 2-0 win versus Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Analysis: Dest started on the right flank in a more attacking role, as he did in the USMNT group stage opener, playing until the 87th minute Wednesday. He would earn a chance created, one tackle won and an interception, a decent day on the flank. With four of his eight duels won, three touches in the opposing box and one successful dribble, he remains a nuisance for other teams to deal with.

Leads USMNT in shots

Dest had three shots (one on goal), one cross (one accurate) and one chance created in Friday's 2-0 win over Australia.

Analysis: Dest was one of the USMNT's most dangerous players going forward, as he had tons of space to push the lines forward, and he didn't have problems breaking the lines against a passive Australian defense. Dest has yet to register a goal contribution in the current World Cup, but with three shots, three crosses and one chance created in two appearances, he seems due to crack the scoresheet sooner rather than later.

Solid in World Cup opener

Dest recorded two crosses and two interceptions in Friday's match against Paraguay.

Analysis: Dest would have a solid opener for the USA as he seemed to be an influential piece on the wing, playing in a more advanced wing-back role. He would earn solid two-way play but appeared the most productive when taking the attacking flank, a major help to the attack. If he continues to play like this in future matches, an assist in likley to come his way, especially with the USA buzzing like they were in the first half.
