Attacking effort in loss
Vazquez recorded two shots (two on goal) and one chance created in Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
Analysis: Vazquez put both of his shots on target but was unable to find the net in a match where Austin struggled to generate consistent attacking momentum. His three goals from 38 shots this season show a striker who gets into dangerous positions regularly and has been unfortunate in front of goal, with 4.36 expected goals on the campaign pointing to a player due for a more productive run. His next fixture against Sporting KC, who sit 15th in the Western Conference, presents a favorable opportunity to get back on the scoresheet.
Records assists
Vazquez assisted once to go with one shot (one on goal), one cross (one accurate) and one chance created in Wednesday's 2-1 victory against Seattle Sounders FC.
Analysis: Vazquez picked up his first assist of the season in the 2-1 win over Austin. Since returning from injury, he's made eight MLS appearances with three starts, contributing that lone assist along with four chances created and six tackles.
Fit again
Vazquez (knee) is on the bench for Sunday's match against St. Louis.
Analysis: Vazquez is finally back in action after a torn ACL last season, with the forward an option for the first time since June of last year. It will likely take him some time to get back to match fitness, so a few bench spots in a row could be feasible. However, he is a key forward for the club, with five goals in 19 appearances before his injury last season.
