Sends in two crosses in win
Sane registered two crosses (one accurate) and one tackle in Saturday's 2-1 win against Cote D'ivoire.
Analysis: Sane was largely neutralized by an Ivorian defense that contained Germany's attacks during the 60 minutes he was on the pitch. Despite being one of his nation's most talented wingers, he has gone without a goal or assist in each of the first two World Cup games, recording a slow start to the competition compared to the rest of the team's attackers. There should be more opportunities for him to get back on track, but he's not guaranteed meaningful playing time given the quality and depth of the squad.
Three shots, no goal
Sane recorded three shots and two chances created in Sunday's 7-1 win over Curacao.
Analysis: Sane would earn the start Sunday after the injury to Lennart Karl in the build-up to the World Cup, starting on the right flank. He would see some decent chances with his three shots and was very nearly a goal recipient, although he just narrowly missed out. He would play the full 90, but his spot in the squad moving forward is not solidified, especially after a standout performance from Deniz Undav from the bench.
