Bruno Guimarães

Analysis: Guimaraes recorded one inaccurate cross without attempting a shot across 66 minutes in Sunday's 1-0 victory at Nottingham Forest. He helped Arsenal dominate possession during the first half and made an important block from a dangerous Forest free kick shortly before halftime, although the hosts' compact defensive structure limited his influence in advanced areas. Guimaraes was replaced by Mikel Merino as part of coach Mikel Arteta's triple substitution midway through the second half, with Arsenal still searching for the breakthrough.

Hopeful to avoid long absence

Guimaraes (groin) will be monitored over the next week after missing Friday's clash against Coventry, after which manager Mikel Arteta stated "We expect him not to be out for weeks. Let's see how he evolves this week - he wanted to carry on and that's when you start to understand the character of the player, but I don't expect that to be a big issue."

Analysis: Guimaraes is projected as a key piece of the Gunners' midfield after transferring from Newcastle during the summer, but his inclusion in the starting lineup will have to wait until he's fully fit. Myles Lewis-Skelly, who provided cover in the double pivot Friday, would be the likeliest player to make way as soon as the Brazilian is ready for action, although there's still uncertainty over when that will happen despite Arteta's optimistic words so far.
