Active as playmaker in win
Salah recorded two shots (one on goal), five crosses (one accurate) and five corners in Friday's 1-1 (5-3) penalty shootout win over Australia.
Analysis: Salah didn't find the back of the net throughout the 120 minutes, but he scored a pivotal penalty in the shootout. The former Liverpool star has scored just one goal in the World Cup, but his presence remains influential for the Pharaohs. He should play a key role for Egypt in their Round of 16 contest against Argentina.
Starts against Australia
Salah (hamstring) is in the starting lineup for Egypt's clash against Australia.
Analysis: Salah's inclusion in the starting lineup confirmed he is fully fit after the hamstring problem that cut short his appearance against Iran, with coach Hossam Hassan having made clear beforehand that he would not risk the captain unless he was at one hundred percent. The Liverpool forward has been in excellent form throughout the tournament, contributing one goal and two assists, with his only blank coming in the game he was forced off injured. Having their most important player available and leading the side is a major boost for Egypt as they chase their first ever knockout stage win at a World Cup.
