Scores winning goal, picks up injury
Manzambi scored the game-winning goal in Saturday's 1-0 win over Newcastle United. He left the game with an apparent injury in the second half, but manager Unai Emery said the injury isn't expected to be serious. "Not clear. He was tired. He felt something, but after the first test we did, it doesn't look to be something big," Emery said.
Analysis: Manzambi scored the lone goal of the match in the 36th minute with a header from close range. The attacking midfielder left the game in the second half with an apparent injury and said he "got a kick but is fine now," but manager Unai Emery said the diagnosis is unclear, so further tests might be needed with an away European match on the schedule for Wednesday. Manzambi has three goals and two assists in four starts this season between the Premier League and the UCL, and his status to face Viking is uncertain at the moment.
Two weeks from joining full group
Manzambi (knee) has started working on the field as he continues his recovery, according to coach Unai Emery, per John Townley. "Manzambi is starting to work on the field. Maybe he will need two weeks more to join us."
Analysis: Manzambi has returned to on-field work as he continues his recovery from the knee injury suffered during the World Cup. The midfielder remains around two weeks away from returning to team training, leaving him some time before being considered for match action. Manzambi should compete for a starting role once fully fit and reintegrated.
