Suffers injury with Spain U21
Hernandez suffered an undisclosed muscular injury with Spain U21 on Saturday, Marc Marin of SPORT reports.
Analysis: Hernandez, one of the standout U21 performers in LaLiga in the 2026/27 season, was expected to make his debut with Spain U21 during the break, but an injury forced him to leave camp and return to his club for treatment. Further tests will be needed to determine whether he'll be able to play against Malaga on Friday, Oct. 9, when the league season resumes after the break. Hernandez has four assists in seven league starts this season.
Back after loan spell
Hernandez is back with Espanyol after a loan spell with Mirandes in the 2025/26 season.
Analysis: Hernandez had a successful season with Mirandes, notching seven goals and three assists across 21 league appearances. He's expected to fight for a place in Espanyol's squad for the 2026/27 campaign, but if he doesn't impress in pre-season, he could be loaned out once again. The attacking midfielder is only 22 years old.
