Struggles off the bench
Hopkins had one shot (zero on goal) and five crosses (zero accurate) in Saturday's 4-1 loss versus Orlando City SC. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 82nd minute.
Analysis: Hopkins had volume but no accuracy with his crossing, and his lone shot was off target. The midfielder has a good opportunity to bounce back if he can improve his efficiency, as FC Cincinnati has conceded 68 goals so far in MLS action this season.
Signs new contract until 2029
Hopkins has been signed by D.C. United to a U22 Initiative contract through June 2029, the team announced Wednesday.
Analysis: Hopkins is trending on the right direction to retain a consistent role for various seasons, having already matched his career-best direct contributions output in the 2026 campaign, tallying two goals and one assist across 15 games played. He may continue to feature either as a center-forward or on the right wing while taking occasional set pieces for the remainder of the year.
