Santos generated one tackle (zero won) and two interceptions in Sunday's 1-1 draw versus Leeds United. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 92nd minute.
Analysis: Santos made his second Premier League start of the season, having previously started the opening league fixture. The Brazilian midfielder operated in central midfield against Leeds, contributing two chances created and two interceptions while helping Manchester United compete in a tightly contested midfield battle. Competition for places remains significant, but Youri Tielemans' recent deployment in an attacking midfield role has opened additional opportunities deeper in the formation. Santos could continue to benefit from that tactical adjustment, although his starting position is far from guaranteed.
Signs with Man Utd
Santos signed a five-year deal with Manchester United with the option for a further year, away from Chelsea.
Analysis: Santos makes the move to Old Trafford after failing to make the desired impression in his only real season at Chelsea in 2025/26. Most of his success at the senior level came with Strasbourg two seasons ago when he scored 10 goals in 32 starts. He figures to immediately fight for time in the United XI following the departure of Casemiro. It's likely United will add more bodies for competition with Santos and Kobbie Mainoo the main options for deeper midfield roles in their current system.
