Out several weeks
Carmona (knee) sustained a knee injury during a contact situation in training at the Centre Nutrilait and will miss several weeks of activity, though surgery will not be required, according to Maxime Truman.
Analysis: Carmona had been arguably CF Montreal's best player before the World Cup break, making his absence a significant blow for the club heading into the second half of the MLS season. The injury comes at a difficult time with the club already short of attacking options following Ivan Jaime's return to Europe, putting pressure on sporting director Luca Saputo to accelerate discussions around offensive reinforcements. Noah Streit and Hennadii Synchuk are expected to seize the opportunity on the wing in his absence, though the club's playoff qualification push means they cannot afford to wait long before addressing the attacking depth concerns that have emerged over the break.
Assists in 4-4 draw
Carmona assisted once to go with one shot (zero on goal), six crosses (two accurate) and four corners in Saturday's 4-4 draw versus D.C. United.
Analysis: Carmona provided an assist for Prince-Osei Owusu to help Montreal come from behind and draw 4-4. He has started 10 games this season, including the last five in a row. He has provided two assists this season and also scored four. This was the third game this season that he has created four or more chances.
