Battered in season opener
Kinsky made five saves and allowed three goals in Saturday's 3-0 loss versus Brentford.
Analysis: Kinsky started between the sticks in Spurs' season opener, a position that he should continue to occupy with Guglielmo Vicario leaving the club. Kinsky's season did not start off on a high note though as he conceded three goals in a match where he could have easily conceded five or six. Spurs -- who had three players making debuts on the backline and had two expected starters out -- were a mess defensively, and while Kinsky can't be blamed for all three goals he certainly did not look confident as the match progressed. Kinsky and the Spurs defense will hope to build some chemistry and confidence as the season progresses, starting Saturday versus Newcastle in the home opener.
Signs new contract with Tottenham
Kinsky signed a new contract with Tottenham, the club announced.
Analysis: Kinsky joined from his hometown club Slavia Prague in January 2025 and made an immediate impression with a clean sheet on his debut in a Carabao Cup win against Liverpool. The 23-year-old Czech goalkeeper stepped into the starting role under coach Roberto De Zerbi following Guglielmo Vicario's hernia surgery, playing every minute of the final seven matches of the season and delivering a string of inspiring saves against Wolves, Leeds and Everton that earned him nominations for the Premier League's Save of the Month and Save of the Season awards. His clean sheet in the crucial final-day win against Everton marked his 20th appearance for the club. Sporting director Johan Lange and De Zerbi both praised his work ethic, character and potential, with De Zerbi describing Tottenham as the perfect place for him to continue developing into one of the best goalkeepers in Europe.
