Quiet in cameo versus Sassuolo
Sarr (undisclosed) completed 19 passes and didn't record other stats in 19 minutes in Sunday's 3-2 loss to Sassuolo.
Analysis: Sarr debuted with Juventus after an injury but didn't make an impact and din't help maintain the balance late in the game. He'll compete consistently with Teun Koopmeiners and Nicolas Gonzalez once Weston McKennie returns from a minor undisclosed injury, while Manuel Locatelli and Khephren Thuram are out long-term because of knee issues. He recorded 33 tackles, 11 key passes and 17 shots (six on target) in 26 Premier League matches (13 starts) with Tottenham last year, scoring twice and providing four assists.
Precautionary absence for opener
Sarr (undisclosed) is out for Saturday's season opener against Brentford, according to coach Roberto De Zerbi. "Sarr felt pain today so won't take the risk."
Analysis: Sarr's absence stems from discomfort he felt in Friday's session, with the club choosing not to gamble with a minor issue this early in the campaign. His energy, tenacity and ability to break up play in midfield have made him a valuable presence for Tottenham, even though he often played a backup role last season. Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes are expected to start together in midfield against Brentford.
