Mahmoud Saber scored one goal to go with three shots (one on goal), one cross (one accurate) and one chance created in Friday's 1-1 draw against Iran. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 20th minute.

Analysis: Saber came into the starting XI with Marwan Ateya being rested due to the risk of suspension and delivered despite lasting only until half time. He was among Egypt's standout performers, enjoying the freedom to attack the box and showing off his best quality from distance, scoring Egypt's only goal and adding two further shots from range along with one chance created. With Mohanad Lasheen now officially suspended for the game against Australia, Saber could get another chance to start and will compete for that spot with Hamdy Fathy, though if Egypt progress he is likely to make way again once players return.
