Substituted as precaution
Gyamerah (muscle) was substituted after approximately 40 minutes during Saturday's 4-3 victory over Augsburg as a precaution, according to coach Vincent Wagner. "He didn't necessarily have to come off, but he was feeling it a little again. We didn't want to take any risks with Jan."
Analysis: Gyamerah had been doubtful ahead of Saturday's clash against Augsburg due to muscular discomfort but recovered sufficiently to start at right-back. However, the defender experienced renewed discomfort during the first half, prompting manager Vincent Wagner to replace him rather than risk aggravating the issue. The coach's comments suggest the substitution was primarily precautionary, with no indication of a significant setback. Gyamerah's availability for Elversberg's next fixture will depend on how he responds over the coming days.
Experienced right-back
Gyamerah ended the season as one of Elversberg's regular defensive options, bringing experience and consistency to the right side of the back line throughout the club's promotion-winning campaign, contributing one goal and three assists in 28 appearances (25 starts).
Analysis: Gyamerah provided defensive solidity and reliability as Elversberg secured their historic first-ever promotion to the Bundesliga. Gyamerah heads into the top flight as an important defensive piece for the newly promoted side, with his experience giving the club a steady presence as they prepare for the increased quality of opposition in German football's highest tier.
