Makes three clearances in loss
Bentancur generated one shot (zero on goal) and two crosses (zero accurate) in Friday's 1-0 loss to Spain.
Analysis: Bentancur co-led Uruguay in clearances, but it wasn't enough to avoid their first loss and the early frustrating elimination. The Spurs midfielder also made the most interceptions for his side in a good defensive effort. He started in all three games and finished with four shots (zero on target) and seven clearances.
Makes crucial tackle in draw
Bentancur generated two shots (zero on goal) and one cross (zero accurate) in Sunday's 2-2 draw against Cape Verde. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 20th minute.
Analysis: Bentancur bounced back from a slow start to the game and helped his side in possession and defensive aspects, with the highlight of his performance coming in the final minutes, when he prevented the opposition from getting a clear chance with a last-man tackle. The midfielder has recorded all possible minutes over the initial pair of matches, averaging 58.8 accurate passes, 10.0 balls recovered, 2.0 interceptions and 1.5 tackles per game. While he has barely been reliable for offensive production, he has also generated multiple successful dribbles in both contests.
