Strong showing in loss
Andres Martin registered three shots (two on goal), seven crosses (zero accurate) and four corners in Sunday's 1-0 defeat versus Getafe.
Analysis: Martin was Santander's lone offensive threat, putting up three shots. None of his service was on point though, and that's not going to help the team's cause if it wants to routinely pick up points. The next match could be a boon for Santander as Elche have already allowed six goals through two matches.
Dynamic winger
Martin delivered an outstanding campaign for Racing Santander in La Liga2, making 41 appearances and contributing 23 goals and nine assists across 3,453 minutes of action.
Analysis: Martin was one of the most productive wide players in the second division this season, his combination of prolific goal-scoring and creative output from the right wing making him a constant danger throughout the promotion campaign. His 23 goals in particular underline his clinical finishing ability from a wide position, while his set-piece responsibilities added an additional creative dimension to his game and gave Racing a reliable delivery option from dead-ball situations. The step up to La Liga will present a significant challenge, but his consistent output across an entire season at this level suggests he has the quality and the stamina to compete at the highest level of Spanish football next season.
