Ruled out against Real Madrid
Buchanan (lower body) has been ruled out for Saturday's La Liga clash against Real Madrid after suffering an injury while on international duty with Canada, according to Javi Mata of Diario AS.
Analysis: Buchanan will miss Saturday's trip to Madrid after picking up a lower-body injury following a tackle during Canada's clash against Peru, which forced him to withdraw from international duty. The winger has established himself as an important piece of Villarreal's attacking rotation this season, recording 11 shots, eight chances created and 24 crosses across seven La Liga appearances despite failing to register a goal or assist. With the severity of the injury and his recovery timeline still unclear, Villarreal will have to adjust their attacking options until Buchanan is cleared to return.
Sends two crosses in loss
Buchanan recorded one shot (one on goal) and two crosses (zero accurate) in Saturday's 3-0 defeat to Morocco.
Analysis: Buchanan did what he could on the right side of the attack for Canada, but he was unable to make a big impact while losing several duels against Noussair Mazraoui. The speedy winger started every game for Canada at the World Cup, but he was disappointing in terms of productivity. Despite having tons of experience in Europe, he didn't record a single goal or assist.
