Drops into rotational role
Seiwald began the season as a starter but has come off the bench in each of the last two matches.
Analysis: Seiwald has seen his role decrease after opening the campaign in the starting XI, with Neil El Aynaoui establishing himself as a regular and Ezechiel Banzuzi also competing for minutes in defensive midfield. Seiwald has recorded five tackles, four interceptions and three clearances across three Bundesliga appearances. He should remain involved in the midfield rotation, though his recent move to the bench creates uncertainty over his chances of regular starts.
Mostly quiet versus Spain
Seiwald generated one shot (zero on goal), one clearance and one cross (zero accurate) in Thursday's 3-0 defeat against Spain.
Analysis: Seiwald didn't have a great showing and was replaced at halftime, subbing off early for the first time in the competition after struggling to contain, in particular, Pedri in the midfield. He tallied at least one tackle, amassing 10 (five won), and one clearance, piling up six, in all four World Cup matches, registering also two shots (zero on target), three crosses (one accurate) and four interceptions.
