Misses penalty in final outing

Taremi registered two shots (one on goal) and one chance created in Friday's 1-1 draw against Egypt.

Analysis: Taremi threw himself into duels with Egypt's defenders throughout and earned a penalty for his side, only to miss it himself in a moment that captured his tournament in a nutshell. He leaves without a single attacking contribution despite five shots and four chances created across the group stage, a frustrating end for Iran's most experienced player and their second top scorer of all time.

Takes one shot against Belgium

Taremi registered one shot (one on goal) and two chances created in Sunday's 0-0 draw versus Belgium.

Analysis: Taremi had one opportunity inside the box, but his attempt was stopped by Thibaut Courtois. Other than that, the Olympiacos striker stood out as one of two Iran players with multiple chances created during the game. Despite his consistent presence in the No. 9 role, Taremi has been denied a goal contribution over the first two group-stage matches. Despite that fact, he could be the squad's main threat against a vulnerable Egypt defense.
