Concedes three against City
Walton registered four saves and allowed three goals in Saturday's 3-2 loss versus Manchester City.
Analysis: Walton would be in for a long day Saturday against City, facing one of the stronger attacks in the league. The goalie would make four saves but would allow three goals, still unable to keep a clean sheet in his three appearances this season. He will now prepare to face Nottingham Forest on Friday, a team scoring less than a goal per game so far this season.
First choice between posts
Walton was Ipswich Town's first-choice goalkeeper throughout the 2025/26 promotion campaign, posting 98 saves and 16 clean sheets across 37 Championship appearances (36 starts).
Analysis: Walton's breakout season represents the clearest step forward of his career, with his save and clean sheet totals underlining how central he was to a back line that helped Ipswich secure an immediate return to the Premier League. The performance marks a sharp turnaround from his previous top-flight opportunity, when he made just seven appearances during Ipswich's 2024/25 campaign in the division. Walton has now cemented himself as manager Kieran McKenna's clear No. 1 between the posts. His strong shot-stopping numbers and comfort handling the ball at his feet give Ipswich confidence that he can handle the step up in competition for a second crack at the Premier League.
