Makes three clearances
Fathy generated one tackle (zero won) and three clearances in Friday's 1-1 (5-3) penalty shootout victory against Australia.
Analysis: Fathy didn't do much defensively, but that's because Australia didn't pose much of a threat overall. The defender should keep his place in the starting lineup when Egypt take on Argentina on Tuesday in the Round of 16.
In starting XI against Australia
Fathy (groin) is in the starting lineup for Egypt's clash against Australia.
Analysis: Fathy has returned from the groin injury he suffered against New Zealand, having been back in training with the squad over the past few days, and he returns to the starting lineup but in midfield rather than center back, stepping in to cover for the suspended Mohanad Lasheen.
