Second straight appearance off bench
Burn came off the bench and played the final minutes in Saturday's 1-0 loss to Aston Villa.
Analysis: Burn entered the game as a striker, as Newcastle wanted to take advantage of his height and size to win headers in the opposing box in the final minutes. This was the second straight game Burn played off the bench, and it remains to be seen when he'll return to a starting role, as he's arguably the most experienced defender in the squad.
Nearing return from ankle injury
Burn (ankle) is expected to return for Monday's clash against Coventry City after making progress in his recovery, according to coach Matthias Jaissle, per Chronicle Live. "They returned but not everyone was in today. We allowed some of them an extra day so tomorrow they are fully back."
Analysis: Burn appears to be closing in on his return after missing time with an ankle injury that required immobilization in a cast. The defender had previously expressed confidence about being ready after the international break, and the latest update suggests he remains on track to feature against Coventry. However, his participation in full team training has yet to be confirmed, leaving some uncertainty over his readiness to start. Malick Thiaw and Sven Botman could continue in central defense if Burn is not ready for a full workload.
