Signs extension with Alaves
Protesoni signed a two-year contract extension with Alaves, committing his future to the club through June 2028, the club announced.
Analysis: Protesoni has made 105 official appearances across all competitions over the past four seasons, contributing six goals while establishing himself as captain and one of the most emblematic figures in the dressing room. The 28-year-old Uruguayan, nicknamed "El Comandante" by supporters, has become a key figure in the club's current sporting project through his consistency, character and unwavering competitiveness. His renewal ensures he will continue under coach Quique Sanchez Flores heading into the 2026-27 season, with the club clearly viewing him as a cornerstone of their plans for the coming years.
Makes squad list
Protesoni (undisclosed) is in the squad list for Saturday's clash against Elche.
Analysis: Protesoni made a return from the muscular issue he picked up during his first appearance under coach Quique Sanchez Flores against Valencia, earning a squad list call despite having only returned to team training for a couple of days. The Uruguayan's return is a significant boost for a side battling through the final stretch of their survival fight.
