Takes three shots in draw
Bacuna recorded three shots (one on goal) and three chances created in Saturday's 0-0 draw against Ecuador. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 53rd minute.
Analysis: Bacuna was one of the few players who tried to provide a spark for Curacao, and more often than not, his pace and dribbling caused problems for the opposing defense. Bacuna seemed to have sustained a knee injury in the first half, but he played through it and looked lively in the second half. If the knee doesn't bother him, expect Bacuna to remain in the XI when Curacao takes on Ivory Coast on Thursday, June 25, in the group-stage finale.
Standout defensive effort in loss
Bacuna generated one shot (zero on goal) and one cross (zero accurate) in Sunday's 7-1 defeat to Germany.
Analysis: Bacuna missed his lone chance to threaten the opposing goal and had few more opportunities to show his attacking talent this time, but he made up for it with a game-high five interceptions and a clearance off the goal line which helped prevent an even worse defeat. While his upside remains limited as part of an underdog team, he should be one of the most consistent threats on the squad and may be able to push forward in future matches while carrying occasional defensive work along with duel-winning strength. Prior to the match against Germany, he had produced one goal plus two assists over his previous six appearances for both club and country.
