Beaten late versus Spain
Costa made five saves and allowed one goal in Monday's 1-0 defeat versus Spain.
Analysis: Costa had a fine performance but saw his clean sheet slip away in stoppage time, with Mikel Merino's goal leaving Portugal out of the competition. The goalkeeper made more than four saves in each of his last three matches, playing a crucial role for his team to avoid conceding multiple goals in a single game throughout the World Cup. Other than that, he secured two clean sheets over five appearances. He's now set to return to club activity with Porto for the 2026/27 season.
Concedes one against Croatia
Costa had five saves and allowed one goal in Thursday's 2-1 win against Croatia.
Analysis: Costa did well to prevent Croatia from an equalizer despite a few disallowed goals and one goal conceded, allowing only one goal in the win. However, this does end his streak of consecutive clean sheets, although it will be tough to keep another one moving forward. He now sits at two goals allowed and 14 saves in four appearances, set to face Spain next.
