Chilwell (undisclosed) has been left out of Crystal Palace's squad for Sunday's Premier League encounter against Brighton after failing to recover from his recent fitness issue.
Analysis: Chilwell will miss his third consecutive match across all competitions after sitting out the recent fixtures against Nottingham Forest and Lyon. The left-back had been considered a potential option for Sunday's meeting with Brighton, but he has not recovered sufficiently to rejoin the matchday squad. Chilwell has recorded one goal in two Premier League substitute appearances totaling 29 minutes this season, alongside an assist in his lone EFL Cup start. Tyrick Mitchell remains ahead of him in the competition for the starting left wing-back position, while a timetable for Chilwell's return has yet to be established.
Ruled out with knee injury
Chilwell is ruled out for Friday's clash against Marseille after picking up a knee issue Sunday at Newcastle, according to Alsasports.
Analysis: Chilwell was expected to start the season as the fixture at left back, offering both defensive solidity and the composure and experience gained from years in the Premier League to a young Strasbourg squad, and Mateo Del Blanco is now expected to step in and try to fill that void in his absence. His recovery timeline will be one to track closely as Strasbourg navigate this early setback at a position they can least afford to be short on experience.
