Transferred to Brighton

Svoboda has joined Brighton from Venezia on a four-year contract, the club announced.

Analysis: Svoboda captained Venezia to the Serie B title this season, missing just one match after his first appearance in matchweek ten as the club lost only two more games in their title-winning run, finishing a point ahead of Frosinone. Svoboda joined Venezia in 2020 and has now won promotion from Serie B twice with the club, in 2021 and 2026. Coach Fabian Hurzeler praised his attributes and adaptability to Brighton's style of play in and out of possession, expressing his satisfaction at landing a player who attracted strong interest from several clubs this summer. Svoboda is currently representing Austria at the World Cup, where he has earned four senior caps since his debut in October 2024, and will link up with his new Brighton teammates later in the summer.
