Returns to bench
Kante (undisclosed) is on the bench for Tuesday's clash with Sweden.
Analysis: Kante was a doubt for Tuesday's clash due to a knock, but it appears it wasn't a serious concern. The midfielder is back on the bench and back available if needed. He's been a depth option for the most part due to the injury, but he could spell Adrien Rabiot for the knockout stage now that he's fit.
Uncertain for Sweden match
Kante (undisclosed) is a major doubt for Tuesday's round of 16 clash against Sweden, according to coach Didier Deschamps, per L'Equipe. "For N'Golo, it is not muscular, but he has a problem, and it will still be tight for tomorrow."
Analysis: Kante has not played a single minute of the tournament to date, making his potential involvement against Sweden one of the more closely watched fitness developments heading into the knockout stages. The 2018 world champion has been managing the knee issue throughout the competition, and coach Didier Deschamps' cautious comments suggest his availability for Tuesday remains genuinely uncertain. His return would give France a significant boost in midfield given the defensive and creative qualities he brings to the engine room, but the coaching staff will not risk him unless he can demonstrate sufficient fitness ahead of kickoff.
