Quiet performance Saturday
Konate generated one clearance in Saturday's 6-4 defeat to England.
Analysis: Konate did a poor job defensively in a rare start after being virtually unused throughout the 2026 World Cup. While he barely got a chance to showcase his skills in the international activity, the central man recently completed a transfer from Liverpool to Real Madrid, joining an interesting competition with Antonio Rudiger and Dean Huijsen ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Signs for Real Madrid until 2030
Konate has joined Real Madrid from Liverpool on a four-year contract until June 2030, the club announced.
Analysis: Konate made 183 Liverpool appearances across five seasons after joining from RB Leipzig in 2021, scoring seven goals and contributing four assists while winning the Premier League, FA Cup and two EFL Cups during his time at Anfield. Konate brings the experience of having been a key partner to Virgil van Dijk in Liverpool's title-winning 2024/25 campaign, along with 28 caps for France including appearances at the 2022 World Cup final and Euro 2024, and now joins one of the most decorated clubs in the world looking to add further success to his career.
