Sebastian Beccacece announced his intention to step down as Ecuador head coach after his side exited the World Cup on Tuesday with defeat to Mexico. Ecuador were eliminated at the last-32 stage following a 2-0 loss to the co-hosts in Mexico City. Beccacece told reporters after Wednesday’s defeat that he would not be continuing in the role, explaining that although his side did not achieve what he had hoped, he was proud of “what we built”.
