One shot in World Cup exit
Katic took one shot (off target), won two tackles, and committed one foul in Wednesday's 2-0 loss to the USA.
Analysis: Katić was competitive, strong in the air, and defended with determination, but he was under pressure for the majority of the match. He made several important clearances and won numerous physical battles, yet Bosnia's defense eventually cracked against a talented U.S. attack. Katić quietly had one of the more dependable tournaments among Bosnia and Herzegovina's defenders. As Bosnia reached the knockout stage for the first time in its World Cup history, he provided leadership, physicality, and consistency at the heart of the defense. While Bosnia often defended deep, Katić embraced that role, excelling in aerial duels, blocking shots, and organizing the back line.
Records four clearances
Katic recorded two interceptions, three tackles and four clearances in Thursday's 4-1 loss to Switzerland.
Analysis: Katic was back starting in the defense Thursday after his exceptional display in their opener, once again a lead defender in the back. However, his club would allow four goals in a rough display, still adding some decent stats in the defense. He will remain a likely starter for the group stage finale against Qatar, needing a big three points from that match.
Excellent defensive effort
Katic registered five tackles (four won), 16 clearances and three interceptions in Friday's 1-1 draw versus Canada. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 93rd minute.
Analysis: Katic delivered an excellent defensive performance and was the absolute anchor at the back for Bosnia, especially in moments when the Balkan side was under pressure from Canada. The 16 clearances are impossible to overlook, and expect Katic to keep his place in the XI against Switzerland on Thursday, June 18.
