Concedes five to Sociedad
Herrero allowed five goals while making four saves during Sunday's 5-2 loss to Real Sociedad.
Analysis: Herrero allowed two goals in the first half and three in the second as Malaga dropped all three points Sunday. The keeper has allowed seven goals while combining for 12 saves over his last three starts. Malaga head to Alaves in their next match Friday.
Makes four saves, can't avoid defeat
Herrero had four saves and allowed two goals in Wednesday's 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid.
Analysis: It's hard to blame Herrero for the two goals he conceded, as one was an impressive shot from Lee Kang-in, and the other was a perfect free kick from Alex Baena. Herrero shouldn't carry a ton of upside as the goalkeeper of a recently promoted team, and he'll aim to bounce back Monday at home against Deportivo before facing Real Madrid on Sunday, Aug. 30.
Steady presence between posts
Herrero started in 46 matches for Malaga in the 2025/26 season. He allowed 54 goals and kept 13 clean sheets.
Analysis: Herrero was a mainstay between the posts for Malaga and delivered impressive numbers, including two clean sheets during the playoff run that led to promotion to LaLiga. Herrero could have earned the right to remain as Malaga's No. 1 goalkeeper in their return to LaLiga in 2026/27.
