Marc Pubill
Clean sheet in XI return
Pubill registered two clearancesand one interception in Saturday's 1-0 victory against Espanyol.
Analysis: Pubill returned to the starting lineup against Espanyol after two games on the bench and helped Atletico to a clean sheet. The defender was one of Diego Simeone's most important players last season, but the arrival of Cristian Romero has cost him his regular place in the centre of defence. His route back in at right back has also narrowed, as Simeone has moved Marcos Llorente there and turned to Pablo Barrios and Johnny Cardoso in midfield. With Romero expected to be out for a short spell, Pubill could get a chance to stake his claim in the center of defense again.
Scored opener in 2-2 draw
Pubill scored one goal to go with one shot (one on goal) and two crosses (one accurate) in Sunday's 2-2 draw against Villarreal.
Analysis: Pubill opened the scoring in the second half in a game that would finish 2-2. The 23-year-old mad ehis first appearance of the season in this game, having started 15 times in the league last year. This gaol came from his only shot.
Nets rare goal
Pubill recorded one goal on one shot in Sunday's 5-1 loss to Villarreal.
Analysis: Pubill had the lone goal of Sunday's match for Atletico, finding the back of the net in the 43rd minute. This is an extremely rare goal for the defender, as it was his first of the season, also adding an assist earlier in the season. He ends the campaign with 15 starts in 19 appearances, recording 20 interceptions, 25 tackles and 85 clearances to go along with five clean sheets.
