Juanlu is "ready for some minutes" ahead of Sunday's season opener at Manchester City, according to manager Marco Rose per The Bournenouth Echo.
Analysis: The former Sevilla defender signed with the Cherries in early August, and while he's not dealing with any injury, he's among the players that Rose identified as "needing some extra workload in recent training sessions." Juanlu figures to be an option off the bench for the Cherries in this opener Sunday, but he should be able to secure a regular starting role as the season progresses.
Serves ban
Juanlu is no longer suspended and is an option again.
Analysis: Juanlu served his ban in the final match of the season and will return at the start of the next campaign. He held a starting role for much of this season until falling to the bench to end the campaign, notching three assists in his 32 appearances (23 starts).
Set for suspension
Juanlu will serve a one-match ban due to an accumulation of five yellow cards in La Liga and will therefore miss Sunday's season finale against Celta Vigo.
Analysis: Juanlu picked up his fifth yellow card in La Liga play and will serve a one-match suspension for Sunday's season finale against Celta Vigo. The versatile midfielder has been mainly a rotational option for Sevilla in recent weeks, therefore his absence will not impact the starting XI. Juanlu ends the season with three assists, 22 chances created, 61 crosses and two career highs with 63 tackles and 32 clearances across 32 La Liga appearances (23 starts).
Comes off bench
Juanlu generated three tackles (two won) and one clearance in Monday's 1-0 win over Real Sociedad.
Analysis: Juanlu replaced Ruben Vargas in the 75th minute and delivered a solid defensive performance by winning five duels. Juanlu has now come on for Ruben Vargas in consecutive games to provide defensive stability.
