Rafa Marín
Exits early versus Genoa
Marin generated one tackle (one won), two clearances and two interceptions before leaving Saturday's match against Genoa due to a possible injury.
Analysis: Marin got the call to replace Alessandro Buongiorno (knee) and was on point for the most part, picking up some stats in the back. However, he was unable to finish the game after indicating some discomfort and might have to take some tests ahead of next Sunday's home game versus Genoa. He was replaced by Mathias Olivera in this one, but Napoli also recently added Benoit Badiashile.
Returns to Napoli after loan spell
Marin has departed Villarreal following the conclusion of his season-long loan from Napoli, the player announced.
Analysis: Marin joined Villarreal on loan from Napoli in July 2025 for a fee of one million euros, with the Spanish club holding a purchase option of 15 million euros that they ultimately chose not to exercise. The 23-year-old centre-back came through the Real Madrid academy before spells at Alaves and Napoli, where he won the Serie A title in 2024-25 before heading out on loan. Marin also represented Spain at under-21 level during his time at Villarreal, and now returns to Napoli where he remains under contract until 2029.
