Alexander Schwolow

Keeps clean sheet in victory

Schwolow made three saves and secured a clean sheet in Saturday's 1-0 win over Schalke.

Analysis: Schwolow made three saves while keeping a clean sheet during Saturday's 1-0 win at Schalke, helping Mainz secure their third consecutive away victory in the Bundesliga. He was relatively untroubled during the first half but made a crucial reaction save to deny Satoshi Tanaka from close range in the 75th minute before stopping another header late in the match. Schwolow's interventions helped Mainz protect Phillip Tietz's first-half opener and secure all three points despite Schalke increasing the pressure during the closing stages. Schwolow will look to build on that performance in Saturday's clash against Bremen.
