Records four clearances in draw
Gaari generated three tackles (two won), four clearances and two interceptions in Saturday's 0-0 draw against Ecuador. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 75th minute.
Analysis: Gaari was an unused sub in the 7-1 loss to Germany but added some much-needed experience and contributed to the clean sheet. Don't be surprised if Gaari stays in the XI and the team keeps the 5-4-1 approach for the group-stage finale against Ivory Coast on Thursday, June 25.
Experience in defense
Gaari has been named in Curacao's World Cup squad and is expected to start in the back line throughout the competition.
Analysis: Gaari spent the season at Abha Club in the Saudi Pro League, gaining experience against high-quality opposition on a weekly basis that has further developed his defensive qualities ahead of the biggest occasion of his international career, accumulating 2,910 minutes of play. The defender brings physical presence and reliability that coach Advocaat will count on heavily during what promises to be a highly challenging group stage. Gaari heads into the tournament as an important defensive pillar for a squad making history at their first World Cup.
