Forced off with thigh discomfort

Lidberg (thigh) was forced off in the 52nd minute of Sunday's 2-1 defeat against Hoffenheim after experiencing physical discomfort, according to coach Alexander Blessin.

Analysis: Lidberg was unable to complete Sunday's encounter after appearing to experience discomfort in the back of his thigh shortly before being replaced. Coach Blessin explained that he had not initially planned to substitute the Swedish striker but was forced to make the change because of the player's physical condition. The coach praised Lidberg's performance in his physical battles with Hoffenheim defender Robin Hranac, particularly his involvement in the buildup to Gladbach's goal. However, Blessin did not specify the exact nature or severity of the injury, leaving the forward's availability for the upcoming Bundesliga clash against Stuttgart uncertain. Lidberg has started each of Gladbach's last three matches, making his fitness an important concern for the coaching staff, especially with Tim Kleindienst (thigh) also sidelined. Robin Hack and Shuto Machino could be considered as alternative attacking options if Lidberg is unable to recover in time.

Leaves grabbing thigh

Lidberg was forced off the field in the 52nd minute of Sunday's 2-1 loss to Hoffenheim due to an apparent thigh injury.

Analysis: Lidberg would start Sunday's match for Gladbach but was unable to end the match on the field, appearing to have suffered an injury. The forward would start grabbing the back of his thigh around the 50th minute, then coming off a few minutes later. He has started in their past three games, so this will be something to monitor, with Robin Hack or Shuto Machino as possible replacements.

Signs for Gladbach

Lidberg has joined Gladbach from Darmstadt on a contract until June 2030, the club announced.

Analysis: Lidberg scored 31 goals and contributed nine assists across 58 second division appearances for Darmstadt since joining in 2024, establishing himself as one of the most clinical strikers in the second tier of German football. Sporting director Rouven Schroder praised his goal threat, physical strength, dynamism and aggressive mentality in the center-forward position, expressing delight at filling an important squad position with high-quality and ahead of schedule. Lidberg himself described his excitement at joining a club he had followed since childhood, saying he needed little convincing once he learned of Gladbach's interest.
